What Does the
Home and School Sponsor?
Do you
ever wonder what happens to the money Home and School raises?
Well, all that wrapping paper and candy that you, your friends
and family buy goes to supplement and/or pay for the following:
- Two
assemblies featuring the "Strings for School" program in
January and February
- Resident
Poet and Storytellers visited the school in October and
April during Poetry Week and the Fall Festival
- More
than $1,000 in Ceramic supplies for our new kiln, so the
children can make beautiful pottery in art class.
- More
than $5,000 in books were purchased for our classroom libraries
to provide level reading materials for fourth, fifth and
sixth grade students.
- $1,700
to supplement the following class trips:
- Kindergarten
and first grade trip to experience "Lyle, Lyle Crocodile"
- Fifth grade trip to see "A Christmas Carol" at Celebration
Theater
- Third
grade trip to Cape May for ocean study
- Fourth
grade visit to the Kimmel Center and the Franklin Institute
- Sixth
grade experience of live theatre by viewing a performance
of "The Giver"
- Second
graders to go back in time and view firsthand the colonial
way of life.
- Nearly
$3,000 to enhance the playground with the new elephant and
benches for the children to enjoy at recess.
- Approximately
$5,000 for library furniture and new fans for the classrooms.
