Following is a summary of the dress code that must be followed daily by our students.
Solid colored NAVY BLUE OR KHAKI COLORED uniform or dress slacks or shorts of the appropriate size for the student.
Shorts should be at the knee or no more than one inch above the knees for male students.
Solid colored NAVY BLUE OR KHAKI COLORED uniform pants, jumper, shorts, skorts or skirts of the appropriate size for the girl student. Skirts, shorts, skorts and jumpers should not be more than one inch above the knees for female students.
MAROON, LIGHT BLUE, or WHITE solid color shirt with collar, turtleneck, or golf shirts may be worn. Short or long sleeved shirts are acceptable.
Cold Weather Attire: A solid colored NAVY, MAROON, OR WHITE pullover, vest or cardigan sweater may also be worn. A shirt must be worn underneath all sweaters.
Foot Apparel for Girls & Boys: Black shoes or sneakers (any color) are permitted. All shoes must be fastened securely. Socks must be worn with shoes at all times. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO CHANGE SHOES FOR GYM OR RECESS. All students are scheduled for gym once a week.
DO NOT WEAR (the following is a list of violations of the dress code):
- No baggy or cargo-type pants or shorts or shirts are permitted.
- No jeans may be worn. They may not be worn under skirts. If girls need to wear pants under their dresses or skirts (permissible in cold weather only) the pants must be solid navy or khaki only and must be removed at school.
- No logos or designs may be on shirts.
- No sweatshirts, no fleeces, and no hoodies.
- No sandals or open toed shoes are permitted.
Children ARE NOT permitted to bring clothes to school to change into at recess. They must wear their uniform and shoes all day long.
CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THIS POLICY
1st OFFENSE
Students will be referred to the office, and parents will be contacted to bring appropriate attire to the school office as soon as possible.
2nd OFFENSE
Students will remain in class for recess detention for one day. Parents will be notified of their child’s violation of the dress code policy.
3rd OFFENSE
Students will remain in class for recess detention for three days. Parents will be notified of their child’s violation of the dress code policy.
4th OFFENSE
Students will remain in class for recess detention for five days, and a mandatory parent conference will be scheduled by the office.
The Ardmore Avenue Home and School Association has graciously offered to help any family with the purchase of a school uniform due to financial hardship.
